A 2006 study of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) shows that 33 out of 100 Filipinos are considered poor. That means 27.6 million Pinoys did not make it beyond the national poverty threshold of 6,274 pesos (around 130 USD) per month, for a family of five.

AIR Philippines will operate eight Bombardier turboprop aircraft leased from Philippine Airlines (PAL) effective today.
The turboprop fleet will fly to 19 towns and cities, operating out of two hubs Manila and Cebu. The airline will focus on delivering safe, affordable and quality service.

The Siargao airport in Surigao del Norte is nearing completion after failing to open in the first quarter of this year, the Transportation and Communications department said.
